A couple of weeks ago the school bulletin:
“We did have someone with covid here two weeks ago but they have recovered now, everything is safe here now.”
I phoned the headmistress to ask why the school didn’t inform anyone at the time. She kept repeating “It’s all safe now, I understand your concern but I assure you, you are overreacting, there is no problem.”
Didn’t answer my question though.
In my opinion:
What the schools should have done at dot one is this;
Use video conferencing software to teach classes from home. Then the teachers still get paid and there’s zero risk of contagion.
Other nations are already doing this and it works.

They have that aloof “need to know” attitude of people who are more invested in persuading other people they have control than they are actually being able to control. It’s called ‘controlling behaviour’ by domestic abuse specialists & psychology experts.
People resent it because: people respect being explained why. It triggers the same rejection as “I am being treated like a herd animal being manipulated and mandated to by people whose job is to support not dictate.”
This situation has resulted from their having to compromise human integrity with political correctness and legally protecting themselves.
It’s not easy for teachers and heads in their positions this year, but; these issues are being highlighted as a part of british culture, all across the board.
The scale of change with “the new normal” is massive. The presumed-to-be entrenched boundaries are being revealed for what they are. Perceptions and preconceptions.
It’s an interesting time.
