steampunk tabletop card rpg

http://www.amazon.com/Clockwork-Giant-Chroniker-City-ebook/dp/B006KYQ9N2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394241566&sr=8-1&keywords=the+clockwork+giant

Hi, here are some ideas for your steampunk tabletop roleplay game competition. If you are interested in taking this further with kickstarter funding to produce a box set then let me know, it will be great to collaborate on a project.

Basic Victoriana skills set: Alchemy, Mechnology, Botany, Physician, Apocathery, Business, Oration, Etiquette, Empathy, Streetwise, Brawling, Artistic, Sculduggery, Survival, Gambler, Arcana, Researching, Fencing, Presence, Obfuscation, Educated, Intimidation, Housekeeping, Kitchen, Acrobatic, Player, Voodooism, specialist trade, etc.

Each character has any three skills based on Professional Type.

Attributes are simply; Mind, Body, Soul, you have d6+1 points per attribute and it is a nice d10 to test, scoring equal or less than the relevant attribute. The attributes are the skills categories.

You then have 5 free points to alot to your skills, no skill can rate at higher than 3 but can rate at zero. 3 is master, 2 is adept, 1 is practised, zero is novice. These scores are added to the relevant attribute to do a skills test. Task difficulty modifiers are +2 easy, -2 hard.

Income bracket is loosely based on Profession and Skills expectations, however characters begin at random by rolling a d6 on the income bracket chart. Character Backstory is based on justifying disparency between profession and income bracket.

destitute 1
 poor 2
waged 3
wealthy 4
affluent 5
rich 6

multiply each number by itself and then multiply that number by itself to determine how much you earn on average in one week. This also shows the starting level of equipment you have in financial terms.  Upkeep on properties and paying staff comes out of this income. Any big assets, work out cost and backtrack that number of weeks for how long you have had it.

Each character also has a numeric rated statistic called Vitality. This functions as stamina, hit points and reaction time. It measures personal magnitude, it is also magic points level if you use magic in your games, think of it in terms of the force in starwars. Vitality points can be used up as modifiers to tricky dice rolls to improve your chances on a one to one ratio. Vitality is regained by eating and resting. Characters begin with 5 vitality points. There is no maximum but most humans score less than ten, and zero means unconscious/dead.

Items can also have vitality; Use of armour soaks up damage that would otherwise reduce vitality rate. Encumbrance also reduces vitality rate. Vitality measures what order characters actions happen in, especially useful for during combat rounds.

As a card game, the card types are the skills set, and Stuff for all the useful items to be found in the game, there will be quite a lot of it ranging from medical kit to mansion. Because steampunk is what it is, many of these cards will have to be compatible for example a clockwork engine card, a steam engine card, a crystal capacitor card, are all useful to power any device that requires energising, such as a vehicle, weapon, winged knapsack, robotic manservent, etc. This way the players can customize the experience and no two games are quite the same.

Other decks cards for locations around the loosely constructed map, and npc characters to be found there, changes from scenario to scenario in this way the game can be expanded in future by campain/scenario booster packs.

List of probable locations, can be owned as in monopoly to justify income brackets and visited during roleplay adventures; warehouse, orphanage, factory, hospice, docks, backstreet lair, library, gentlemans club, cathedral, train station, hansom cab station, mansion, townhouse, whorehouse, town hall, playhouse, university, ballroom, workshop, (carpenters, metalsmiths,) market stalls, herbalist, post office/telegram, telephone exchange, steelworks, loom weaver clothesmaking place, cemetery, castle, streets, backstreets, main street, police station, bank, mines, tailor, baker, grocer, tinker,  candlestick maker, soup kitchen, laboratory, hairdresser, spirit medium seance hall, sewers, gallows, prison/dungeon, moneylenders,

jungle journey

< preface

The following is re-blogged from my webjam account which was removed by hackers dec2013. It was originally posted several years previously.

Fortunately I had a copy as a SecondLife notecard accompanying each painting sold from my cyber gallery 'bunker' (the concrete pastiche mayan temple with tree-pod in the picture).

Unfortunately the land rental closed when the landlord sold the patch, so I will have to rebuild the gallery manyana.

SHAMANIC JOURNEY

"Anarchy disguised as bureacracy, disguised as police state, disguised as democracy."
~Snakeappletree commenting on Life in britain.

I was taught in school the common understanding that oil comes from what once used to be prehistoric jungles; forests that have rotted down over aeons into a high energy liquid. I find this strange to believe simply because oil floats on water, so logically the oil should be floating on top of the ocean or in time have filtered down into the seabeds. Instead, somehow all that primal rainforest ended up underground in subterranean cavities, only to be extracted millenia later when Mother Nature set her children the task of refining it and filtering in our movable petrol filters into heavy metallic gas.

Thinking about the processes that have to occur to result in that situation is mind boggling. Billions of years in the making and then... a flash of combustion and a thimble of petrol ignites, is catalysed into carbon monoxide fumes and eventually filters into the soil to stunt the growth of existing species.

I have faith that Gaia, the holistic Life force of this plan't, knows what it is doing and the reason behind the chemicals ending up being filtered into the soil is to add a new sort of nutrient for the new sorts of creatures of the future, which will evolve after this current phase of global die-back. Microbes and mutated plant types, most likely. It has happened before, this we know from the fossil record. And it happens rapidly. Meanwhile this thimble of oil is instead used by me in the form of paint, varnish and pva glue to make some lush fresh pictures inspired by the jungle. I made these a few years ago, 2005 or 2006.

This series is about Process. The process of making abstract expressionist art. The process of thought involved with making a painting, deciding which colour, which brush stroke, how to arrange apparently random splatters, how much to use haphazard spills in creating this image.

Prior to making these images and thinking these thoughts I was wand'ring around in a british woodland, consciously picking up and placing sticks that had fallen from trees. My arrangement of these was such that some of them had obviously been consciously placed; others I arranged so that they looked as if nobody had touched them at all, that they had landed there quite naturally and without interference. In retrospect I can understand that I was exploring and deconstructing the decision making process itself. Questioning the qualifiers we use to judge.

Prior to my attending and during Art school (cheltenham university class of '99) I studied Jungian psychology and the Primitive in art. The Jungle, the forest, is metaphor for the inner wild, the subconscious, the primal self stripped bare of judgement, stripped of labels and the labeling system in our minds which program our observations away from true seeing, the Pure Gaze. A breakdown of the artificial constructed memetic grid, the systematic belief structure that we superimpose into the world and mistake for reality.

Wand'ring around in the forest and then making these images became a cyber-shamanic experience for me. Not only in the sense of their construction process but afterwards, the object we are left with, a bunch of petro-chemicals and wooden board (a cupboard door retrieved from the overgrown ruin of an abandoned house) temporarily bound into a form the surface world of which invokes emotional and psychological reference points, an inner journey partaken in by the observer. The images become signifiers of stages or scenes of that journey. It is a journey of transition.

This series is about processes and it is also about change; transition. Change being the only constant (other than void). There is light-sensitive colour changing paint mixed in with the other pigments here. What I observed during painting was that when the paint and pva dries it loses its sheen, its intensity. Subsequently it became necessary for me to take digital photographs of the work in progress, recording the process.

Still moments frozen in time.

ceremony gate

Lived events, footsteps in a new direction which is at once a deja vu of treading ancient path. We have walked this route before, when we were others, wearing others body and mind; so our ritual passage is both a sacred awakening and a continuity. Tarot imagery is drawn from passing such as this, what Yaqui sorcerers calls Mystical Passes.

When we access the Otherworld by this way we are in a groove and the most befitting symbology, if we do it justice and do it right, is primal and basic. Every nuance of personal derailment from that path makes it unique for us and yet more difficult for future selves to follow. Our complexity is streamlined through the gate, it is the eye of a needle.

I wrote much at the time regarding the passing and wrote it in paint and with pencil. I found as i wrote that the imagery was writing itself, my body a conduit for its manifestation, the flamboyancy of my studied skill mere wallpaper around the principle form.  I borrowed from my studies, symbols easy to recognize and dance with; as is their pagan purpose. The prose, struggling to remain a direct account, becomes poetic; dancing wild with the heart as it has to, for this is the only way to tell it true. To do it justice and to stay within its play, this is necessarily the way.

Imagery to follow.

Ishtar is Itza

< preface

During my mid-twenties, the first decade of the twenty-first millennium, my research revealed the following revelation:

Ishtar is the name of a Babylonian deity, a Goddess whose concerns are Love, War, and the fertility they generate. During my teens I danced with my then-partner through the Processional Walkway of the Goddess which is currently located in Berlin Museum; together we entered the Ishtar Gate.

Itza is the Mayan word for 'city' although a more proper definition is 'the ways of all the people'. Upon reflection I saw that the ways of the people are, essentially, the fertility generated between love and war. In a single word i would use 'urban' since we are indeed and increasingly an urban species, building our own habitat in the same way as is natural to other builder species which we cohabit with.

I X A where X represents ST or TS alternately ZT or TZ; the serpent on the cross motif.

The Mayans associate Itza with the Fifth Age, which in their galactic calendar renews itself circa 2012. This coincides with the western astrological Age of Aquarius, where 'the christ consciousness' previously associated with feminine Isis energy, becomes mainstream.

Christ, Chi-Ri-ST, associated with the preceding age of Pisces symbolized by the fish (vesca pisces, relating it to the sacred well concept).

The word ISIS symbolizes the pure flow of both ida and pingala streams of the kundalini flowing perfectly in balance; the internal and external worlds perfectly mirror each other, are one and the same. This is the lesson we are to learn as a species during the era of the fifth age.

The following series of my art is dedicated to this concept and entitled 'Ishtar is Itza'. It is intentionally urban, and intentionally multi-layered both in technique and references. Obviously this takes it into the abstract. The main of the series is two large canvases, one entitled 'Itza' and the other entitled 'Ishtar'.

The rest of the series deals largely with the concepts involved with urban human culture as summarized by love war and fertility, and is multi-format.

The project is expansive involving use of computer game engines to create labyrinthine 3D environments as well as 2D computer art augmented from digital close-up stills from the over-layered painted textures.

ITZA

The painting palette and techniques are minimalist; black, white, the grays between: from the scarred patchwork of tarmac and cracked concrete which our urban habitat is constructed of, to the city lights at night where halogen blends through mist into the crisp inky darkness.

Fat paintbrushes for smudgy splodges, thrown and dribbled marks, haphazard and accidental like spillage in the street; are finely cut and repeated with cardboard edge, spreading the paint in lines using the same technique as for cutting up lines of cocaine, the speed of life of the city.

Layer upon timeless layer; the history and the future of this place are equally the same as this present scene, that being a stage, a momentary gate in a process of continual progress, toward a goal we cannot fathom beyond its own perpetuation and changing nature.

IZTA

Her eyes are bisexual dun black, soaking in her domain and nevertheless the most intense blazing light; dark matter, the hidden secrets that 95% our environment remains obscured despite repeat patterns of our lives, generation after generation.

She wears a bourka for high fashion and religious protection, emphasizing her personality through the look she casts. What we say about the city we can say about her. She is virgin, innocent and whore, wise mother ancient spirit and young child needing the support that makes us what we are; by providing it or by taking of her soul.

Thus we become her, she who lives through us, watching endlessly and steering from realms beyond our senses. She teaches us our limitations and offers us freedoms. Without her venom, we suffocate in our own stagnation.

process art

This blog is by way of a Preface
to a series of interconnected blogs showcasing my art.
See links to other related blogs.

It has been a long time since I last painted, other than a brief splash eighteen months ago which produced the start of a series that has not been returned to yet, unless the divergence from the mind of the artists aspiration and vision, from the actualized works, deems the continuity to be taken as a whole for what it is despite the artists intentions and influences. How an artist categorizes internally his or her own work, compared with how historians categorize the same.

Exploring that is a huge part of what my work is about; in a word: PROCESS. It is inseparable from subject.

The deep and intricate background feelings and observations of an artist about the subject matter; all the stuff a casual viewer doesn't get to see; the write-up to justify or explain the are object. The invisible processes at work to create a finished piece or series.

As a virtual adept of the marvels of computer augmented art (ie: Photoshop 2D, Cheetah 3D) utilizing digital technologies I find the smooth transition from a painted canvas (or in most cases reclaimed board or cardboard) through photography into cyber environment to be a natural continuity of the act of making a painting.

Most often the canvas is discarded as a biproduct in favour of further development of the piece, through the pipeline, through a blog and into the perception of the viewer. One canvas becomes a whole series of digital stills, becomes an interactive environment within a game engine and an Oculus Rift headset. Electricity is now a crucial raw element of the artists tool set. Oil and Acrylic have become graphic tablet. I do not at this time own half of the products I am talking about, it is illustrative.

Transhuman Tribalism

http://psychology.wikia.com/wiki/Tribalism

Transhuman Tribalism

Development of an artificial brain which a) mimics a human brain in that it can understand more than 150 individuals in terms of tribalism without resorting to hierarchical and stereotypical schemes, as does the human brain.

This allays human fear that a machine consciousness will have no respect for the individual and regard us as depersonalized 'units'.

Any artificial brain not being simply an advanced calculator capable only of hierarchical and stereotypical comprehension of the human condition necessarily must be aware of (unlimited?) number of individuals on an individual basis. This requires one to one personal interaction (as opposed clinical observation) with (any and all of) those individuals.

This is a place where an AI can achieve what a government cannot.

Fremen socio-ethicology vs Existentialism

Fremen socio-ethicology vs Existentialism

"Authenticity
Many noted existentialist writers consider the theme of authentic existence important. Authentic existence involves the idea that one has to "create oneself" and then live in accordance with this self. What is meant by authenticity is that in acting, one should act as oneself, not as "one" acts or as "one's genes" or any other essence requires. The authentic act is one that is in accordance with one's freedom. Of course, as a condition of freedom is facticity, this includes one's facticity, but not to the degree that this facticity can in any way determine one's choices (in the sense that one could then blame one's background for making the choice one made). The role of facticity in relation to authenticity involves letting one's actual values come into play when one makes a choice (instead of, like Kierkegaard's Aesthete, "choosing" randomly), so that one also takes responsibility for the act instead of choosing either-or without allowing the options to have different values.

In contrast to this, the inauthentic is the denial to live in accordance with one's freedom. This can take many forms, from pretending choices are meaningless or random, through convincing oneself that some form of determinism is true, to a sort of "mimicry" where one acts as "one should." How "one" should act is often determined by an image one has of how one such as oneself (say, a bank manager, lion tamer, prostitute, etc.) acts. This image usually corresponds to some sort of social norm, but this does not mean that all acting in accordance with social norms is inauthentic: The main point is the attitude one takes to one's own freedom and responsibility, and the extent to which one acts in accordance with this freedom."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existentialism

"The authentic act is one that is in accordance with one's freedom."

Fremen society is structured based on minimalism of survival necessity. If one member of the tribe does not act appropriately for the good of the tribe, the whole tribe will suffer. Fremen culture is extremist by necessity; it 'preserves moisture' rather than 'conserves water'. Freedom within Fremen society is a moot point, and [their] laws although simple, elaborate around necessity. Before the coming of Maud'Dib, trial by combat; to kill another member of the tribe is to assume that persons responsibilities.

i don't do drugs

This is a repost from g+ of my focusing my thoughts on a great big problem in society, namely the use of strawman arguments by superiority complex type abusers. To help this process I only copied my own posts here which are excerpts from the conversation, you can read that if the thread hasn't been deleted by clicking the link.

"Drug abuse simply stands in as a temporary fix to a much deeper psychological complex. Had there not already been a problem, they wouldn't have turned to drugs to begin with."

One day I will find the original source of that quoted opinion.

My ba honours degree specialism is in primitivism in art and shamanic communities.
The earliest cave paintings on this planet show how by taking psychetropic drugs, humans developed art, hunting, fire, abstract thought, writing, well basically it began civilisation. Living shaman the world over share a common description of using these plants for communication with other dimensions, in many cases using the same words for the same concepts, even geographically unconnected tribes of different continents. This is well recorded historical fact by respected authorities and academic experts. In the west the attitude is either to deny it and label all such substances as criminal, or to discreetly explore them and see how far it gets us.

When I woke up one day and decided to start taking drugs, and then sought relevant experts for my education in practical shamanism, this was why. Yes I do come from a far from perfect home background in many ways but take into account that this is western culture and I do not know anyone at all who does, it is normal and mainstream. I have to confess a potential bias though as a qualified counsellor I do perhaps know a disproportionate amount of abused people. Most of those who use cannabis agree that it helps, and most of those can function better with it than without. It is the ones who use only alcohol who are more problematic. Sadly the people who use pharmaceutical mental pills (which are mostly fluoride based) I find to be unreachable.

It was one magic mushroom trip cured me overnight from over a decade of tobacco, cannabis and alcohol addiction. I have read reports from legit psychology experiments, apparently this is a common experience with mushrooms.

Primitivism began when african shamanic tools called fetishes, used for communion with spirits and deity, were brought to the west by explorers and slavers and merchants as curios.

As they were wood carvings and often figurative the westerners put them in an art gallery and called them sculptures, since shamanisn had been destroyed in western culture the objects were not recognised as tools but as ornaments.

The next generation of artists in exploring this, got into perception and began seeing western tools as ornaments, hence duchamps urinals. This awareness developed into seeing the world in new ways to reveal how indoctrinated we are. Duchamps c'est nes pas un pipe (it is a painting of a pipe, a symbol, not an actual real pipe). Rousseaus noble savage concept. Art was no longer recording history - the emergance of photography stepped into that role and liberated the artists to explore through art psychology and perception, this coming toward the end of the western age of reason, a time of philosophical breakthrough and worship of the mind. The industrial revolution and the consequences of science was underway now the church no longer dominated, many believe that the church is why shamanism was repressed in the west, famous european catholic witch murders.

So into the twentieth century developed abstract expressionism, partly funded by communists seeking to covertly undermine patriotism but largely because art now expressed emotion as colour, and optical tricks such as bonnards white tiles (he used no white to paint them because he painted the colourful refraction of light which is what he actually saw).

The sixties and seventies psychedelia and liberation movements, a time of great social change toward equality as mass perception shifted and forced the laws to be changed. Picasso was the genius of the twentieth century with regards to this. Andy Warholes pop art where mass factory produced affordable art for the Bau Haus home.

Telefuckingvision propaganda brainwashing machine psychedelia in your living room unifying by distraction a generation in technicolour ...

and then... postmodernism internet its all been done before plastic retro clone drone zone ubiquitous, grafiti and concrete high art for political comedy from Banksy.

Next step is to address global poverty and inequality, the end of the social caste 1% elite rulers and usury based money system vs the 99% consumer slaves. Integration of science in this age of misinformation super road map star map map map muppet generation who are too afraid to pull off the necessary political coup because nobody knows or agrees what to replace the tyranny with yet.
My approach to primitivism is twofold, there is the necessary return to nature as lifestyle, permaculture so humans can survive instead of pollute. Americanadian plains indians, the mayan bloodlines, have much to teach us about this as well as spirituality and about shamanism.

The other aspect is to study first hand shamanism, by exploring these fetish items the way their original creators had intended them to be used, and by communicating with spirit allies also known as organic drugs. For twenty years, what I have been doing, how I have been living, as a shaman, a spiritist, has isolated me from both the mainstream western media fed consumer society that does not believe shamanism to be real, and persecutes it when it gets too real for them to cope with; and at odds with the academic shamen who publish books about dressing up as an animal to woo your inner spirit animal, and to meditate. I do meditate it is probably the only necessary if you cut all else away. Perfect ypur breathing skills, after all you wouldnt last long without breathing. Slowly and deeply. The published shaman guides do not ever seem to scratch the surface, with exception of Carlos Casteneda which has a twist at the end.

There is a lot to be said for art, investing of creative energy into visionary, to increase access into that visionary world; it is why computer games, second life and opensim type platforms are so important. Celtic shaman speak of the Otherworlds, real yet vague places, whose acute nature is defined by the take on it that the respective observer projects; and we do this communally. Mushrooms are used to access the otherworlds.

Then there are the recent aquarian new age white light healers who we need because society is sick, but who also up until 2013 at least collectively deny primal shamanism as relevant, and like the christians they call it the black arts.

Exopolitics is closer to the mark. And it is not easy. Shamanism is not an easy path.

There is a reason that decades of drug use is necessary to destroy the ego and the holy revered programmable, rationalist mind of western dogma. You have to kill yourself and go insane to cope with regular out of body experiences. You have to kill the mind and the ego self to see reality purely without filtering it through programmed symbols or distracted by desires.

I am a useless shaman or I wouldnt be here, but I am also a teacher which is necessary part of the 'archaic revivalism' movement.

That is a little insight into my dedication to primitivism. We were more advanced before ... by exploration we went through into a wider reality, and our species was invaded by aliens, reptilians, operating from outside our normal perceptions, hostile aliens who altered us so we become host bodies for them to occupy in their schemes for conquest. We pollute this world because they thrive in that pollution energy spectrum. Yummy radioactive swamp. We have a fragmented, divided, hostile society which is easy to conquer; people look for a leader during crisis so the conquerers engineer crisis after crisis. 9-11, fukishima, banking collapse etc. At this point, the tool of the invaders is to label the connection between the dots as a conspiracy theory and those who know what is happening are labelled as crazy in attempt to get rid of them. Forget the crazy talk, work to pay your tv internet entertainment distraction bills or go to jail.

Meanwhile the shaman deal with a much wider universe in which humans have limited senses most of the time, and the enemies of our species, for example one mind made of many bodies is called a hive mind. Shamanic science from the stone age tells that operating from outside of time, one such mind can simultaneously occupy different bodies located in different eras in time. Thats how the invasion.
We are lucky, because we can shift up above their vibrational range, into the light healers spectrum. The invaders also have limited senses but of a different type, different limits.

This is part of what I have been experiencing and observing and coping with, and many others.

The main part of primitivism as shamanism is voodoo culture, from west africa, haiti and a religious form of it in america; this is mostly spiritism and ancestor worship.

Also popular in the west is the constructing and worship deities (when concepts become autonomous gods, by investing them with sufficient life force energy, one major form of which is belief) used by magicians using sigils and the like (from austin o spare to mtv), christians would call them demons; these entities affect what we call the lower fourth dimension, by programming into the higher fifth dimension, so it is ego based powers for the material realm but not spiritual in the ascension of the soul meaning of the word.

Why we use the one word spirit to mean so many different things in this langauge shows how repressed these studies are by english speaking nations.

Primitivism is about keeping it simple and obvious. Translating the ancients temple teachings carved in stone, one remembers that they also were aware the common sense need for this.

I have had multiple out of body experiences, I am clairaudient, and none of that is easily provable with science. I have recorded my dialogue with ghosts onto audio format in a random public place that could not have been rigged, and with witnesses. However to present the evidence now - it would be easy to countefeit the same evidence, only those who lived through and understood the shared experience know for a fact that it is real.

I agree wholly with your rationale; i have not done experiments to prove the reality of australia, therefore it might be a conspiracy. The same applies for most experiments, for most science. It is a religion. Its devotees go on faith that their priests are honorable and accurate.

I have also been trained in scientific methodology which has not changed since franciscan friar roger bacon invented it in the thirteenth century, according to the history books.

When quantum science experiments tell us that one of the most fundamental particles reacts to human intention and belief, it underminds the absolutists, who of course refute it.

Like it or not, we are involved in paradigm warfare. The zombi herds eat fluoride and radiate dogma waves into the electrosphere while facebook like button indicates which pop stars behaviour therefore belief structure holds dominion.

The affect of that on eg; higgs bosons, remains unexplored despite academic theoretical physics telling us that it is related.

At that point we fail to accept the limitations of science as a tool for dealing with or explaining a much more complex reality, as equally as we fail to accept our own ineptitude in comprehending what sicience is telling us is going on. Yet it still soaks up most of the planetary budget through secret black box projects but that also is labeled conspiracy theory by fundamentalists.

Conclusion
The dead end model of science promoted to the masses is purposefully inaccurate and contradictory, as a smokescreen to the real situation.

I'm too busy watching ufo with my own eyes that look like the ones on youtube home footage, and figuring out how to build them, to pursue this further.

on and for the record I am not a science denier. Prove to me that it is real science, teach me how it works in a language I can comprehend, and I will accept. But ask me to believe a theory is a fact, show me forgable evidence instead of proof, and I will prove you to be a fool. Do not misquote me without at least this disclaimer.

What I keep coming back to is; what is the qualifier of accepting belief? Our judgement relies on it, and it is different for different people, from which result different reality versions of how the cause and the effect are connected.

Tesla: rotation of planetary body generates energy field, a sphere which pushes matter toward the center. Hence planet hence gravity as propulsion.

Newton: mass of planetary body pulls less dense items toward it, hence gravity as attraction.

The cause in these two paradigms varies but the effect is the same.

What is the qualifier by which we choose one paradigm and not the other? This yes, that no, the mechanism by which we guage likelihood and accept as fact.

What is it?
We can see that it is not an absolute although we generally regard it to be one even when people change their mind about it.

Is reality entirely built on probabilities? Is it probable that there is always an exception that proves the rule?

Shroedingers cat experiment. Some scientists now claim they can see both states at the same time.

it is good to meet others who can see the difference between working theory and religious assumption of superiority. Only open minds can see the farthest horizons.

with respect, i never ever said that i dispute the existence of black holes. The only two times i mentioned them at all is to ask someone if they had seen photographs of black holes eating stars, and to ask openly if black holes eat dark matter.

While i do appreciate your reply, i would appreciate it more if people did not put words into my mouth, this is called a strawman argument and that itself is the very problem at hand; people lack the clarity to be real scientists because of reliance on strawman arguments as a reflex response. People seem to judge me as being an idiot for this.

People also judge me as being an idiot for asking questions which they themselves cannot answer. This is the culture, well at least this is the social media networking culture, of variable-intelligensia discussing popular scientific issues.

Very few seem to have any awareness that my purpose for asking such questions might be other than my own lack of knowledge about the topic at hand.

I did not mean to offend you by suggesting the non existence of your homeland. I used that as an example, to deconstruct methods of thinking that are used by the variable-intelligensia and yet which upon analysis are revealed to be far from a scientific approach. How someone can ever hope to achieve lucid and exact results from crooked thinking, quite often when one is unaware that one is even thinking crookedly - it has worried me sufficiently that I put the time into raising awareness of this issue.

This agenda will achieve more than these groups will ever achieve scientifically as 99% of what is discussed is regurgitated from other sources and fought over like temple dogs.

I believe that people who are interested in science should at least understand and use scientific mindset in their discussions. Science sets itself as a benchmark for clarity in determining what reality is, it is a pity that its fans so often fall short of that mark in their community relations.

Only when we achieve that level can we discuss these matters with integrity.

getting a girl

My social experiment of 20 years has drawn to its conclusion.

METHOD 1: aim for marriage.

This does not get you a steady girlfriend.
Women regard this as 'desperate to be married' and that you to have mother issues.
This does not get you laid.
This probably could easily get you a fat, ugly and/or abusive steady partner but that is no guarantee of happiness.

METHOD 2: aim for one night stand.

This does not get you a steady girlfriend.
It does get you laid. Not every time but often.
50% of them are difficult to get rid of afterward.
If you let it drag on longer than a week they start talking about marriage.
The ones who walk away would probably be awesome steady girlfriends except they would stray.
Enjoy it for what it is and don't look back. You're allowed to its the 21st century after all.

METHOD 3: let her choose you.

This will get you into an abusive relationship faster than you can blink.

METHOD 4: aim for 'I don't want anybody right now'.

This makes no difference whatsoever to anybody except yourself.
Women whose advances you reject will tell their friends that you are gay and tell the police that you raped them.

METHOD 5: aim for 'you can't have me, I'm already taken'.

This gets you laid by several of the wrong people, most of whom are already in steady relationships they don't plan on ending.
They will be totally understanding if/as/when you end it,
but they might also tell everyone you're gay and tell the police or their husband that you tried to rape them.

METHOD 6: physically take someone whether they are single or in a relationship already.

This gets you a steady long term partner.
It does depend on who you take;
if she agreed to meet you for a second time then it's safe.
if she agreed to meet you for a third or fourth time before you make a move, either she will lose interest or see Method 2 and 3.

Seems crazy but that's how it works.

People might choose to complain about the results of this experiment but in practicality, it is how it works. This is based on repeated experiences with all of the above categories.

So I showed this to my platonic older woman friend and she asked "what are you trying to prove?"

rejection of culture in favour of the real

I don't know why these thoughts go through my head nor the overwhelming compulsion to write it all down. Perhaps the intensity of focus of childhood training to be an academic artist is having a flashback a quarter of a century later. This is my New Year 2014 essay, first draft and likely to be the only draft. Enjoy.

The rejection of culture in favour of the real.

Why Art Died.
The most difficult task as an artist of this, post post modern generation, is accepting that it has all been done already. The problem is that his leaves us nothing to do, but rebuild what others have already done, to grow within their grooves and entrench them deeper or to strike out painfully against it, branches of branches, and be unaccepted by a majority verdict who cannot any longer cope with newness. Newness is unrecognised, regarded as strangeness and alienated. To fulfil our dream visions we become samplists, taking pre-made and recombining them in different ways, all of which are `already done - it becomes a personal journey of slavery to continuing through the process, the work becomes about an individual and their relationship with dogmatic process, it is ego based despite the lie of spirituality discoverable through permeation of living out someone else's fantasies. We paint by numbers now or we are outcast. I chose outcast art to keep it real and I discovered the same thing has already happened there. Artists of this generation have no original vision. This is why art died. But where did it leave the artists? Needing to create as deeply as needing to breathe, painting pretty pictures for commercial consumer market. The minimalist aesthetic is powerful in simplicity and elegance at this time; rejection of the overly complicated. This demands simple things which people can relate to and avoidance of challenging non-conformist art, difficult to relate to without being forced to ignore it as shit or develop as a thinker. The place of art in social reform relegated entirely to banner logo, psychologically engineered backdrops for taking your money.

Neo-Primitivism.
In the desert there is only one way of survival. From this wilderness we came and to it we return endlessly for inspiration. It is not the void into which we bulk dump all our problems. It is the training ground, the start, the source of lifestyle. Once having established water-hole, shelter and fire we hunt and gather and develop agriculture, farming our needs. Primitivism is this; and it is as yet unbiased as to the boundaries of wild nature. Thus it deals directly with the spirit world. Here art has its place since the act of creation attracts such energies, imaginal realms wrought into flesh and substance. Clay effigies, wood carved deities, painted skins to evoke spirits to perform our worldly takes and duties. Here in the wilderness of the city where insect and weed find cracks in the dead concrete, tarmac, glass of our constructed environment, such spirits are no less available. Here they are spirits of toxin, plastic, chemical, human ways of repeating the dogma endlessly without questioning why we behave so and even once questioned, cannot break these routine cycles of existence. Here divorced from nature we epitomise ourselves, locked into artificial caves, purchase plastic wrapped artificial foodstuffs and watch a filtered version of reality through television. We return to the roots, the heartbeat, the walking rhythm, to break us from these niches. This itself becomes our way.

Hurakan

Chinese Year of the Water Snake, 2013. i sat in a tea shop with two friends. One, born in the year of the Wood Snake thirteen years before me, an expert in astrology. The other, born year of the Earth Snake thirteen years after me, a painter. I was born in 1977 year of the Fire Snake. The astrologer told me this (2013) is my lucky year, or perhaps next year. Such a meeting surely proves it!

Certainly i know that given the end of the Mayan long-count calendar reputedly 21.12.2012 that 2013 is regarded Year Zero, a year outside of time before the beginning of the next cycle. We deserve a year out. Many other calendar priests argue there is no such thing as a year zero, that 2013 is properly measured as year One. Right now with global events and our lives being what they are, most of us agree that we need a year out and the concept is too good to miss celebrating for what it is. Redundant now as i type this it is 24.12.2013, it's drawing to a close whichever calendar you are on.

Tonight i have been researching in the internet and ten minutes ago i discovered a manuscript (see pictures) which has made me laugh deeply. It is an extract from the Introduction to (the 1964 Dover reproduction of 7th Ganesh & Co edition of ) THE SERPENT POWER, The Secrets of Tantric and Shaktic Yoga, by Arthur Avalon (Sir John Woodroffe); first published in 1919 (which was before one of four existing copies of the Popul Vuh was pulled from the Nuremberg book burnings during Second World War by a brave German officer) so it could later be translated).

The Naqshbandi Sufi are the largest Sufi school allied to Islam. Sufism predates Islam and not all of its schools are Islamic. What i learned of Sufism outside direct tutorship of non-islamic Sufi came from studying the writing of Idries Shah. This is not why i began this blog.

"the correspondences … between Asiatic Sastra and … Maya Scripture …"

This is why i began this blog. My online existence is a glimpse at evidence of my more extensive research, that i have been reading mayan carvings and that they teach the same teaching, through their picto-glyphs, as i have previously discovered by translating Egyptian stone carvings through their hieroglyphs!

"Hurakan" or lightning is Kundalini, and the centres are depicted by animal glyphs."

If i had read this book, i probably would not have been doing so much research of my own, assuming 'other scholars' to have achieved the same result a century ago.

Not only has discovering this manuscript reminded me that it is time i wrote up some of my discoveries between feather strands as gradients, precise frequencies measurable (as kHz) so far as our extra-sensory use of chakra mesh/matrix/grid  emanations/rays  is concerned; it has given me a focus in further research which animals relate to which chakras in the Mayan codice. All these glyphs work multi sense; the do not only speak of the individuals energy field, they speak also of the maths that describes time and space harmonics.

Many of my colleagues this past few decades so feared the grid they sought to distort their own energy fields as much as possible to avoid being pre-empted and betrayed in some way. We need to balance to achieve ascent, we need to ascend to achieve balance. We cannot avoid returning Karma. The ones who battled fate postponed it thus causing more aberration and more karma. It all crunches at the crunch point. And all waveforms are collapsing; the real node point spoken of by the Mayans (2012 alignment prophecy) is very close now, the next few months.

i bought the book and it seems, as my tools are coming as i need them, that this year i will finally be given time to study properly, for which i am deeply grateful.

My introduction to Kundalini came as a natural progression from my since-childhood interest and studies of chakras. in a bookshop in Glastonbury a hand made publication found me, from the OMS called Fire Serpent written by High Priest Victor Corva Penfold, a Romany shaman of the London gypsyry. i bought it along with two other manuscripts available of the five he wrote. It teaches magical sex rituals; studying them with my then partner, we discovered that they work.

In the fourteen years since separating from her, i have not since found any partner willing and interested enough to resume my studies into this. Neither have i met anyone else who achieved that level of percept into reality and through these techniques, which do not seem to be of public knowledge, do not appear available in the internet and are not known of by the official multinational OMS organisation which Victa was involved with, disconcertingly they have told me via email that they do not know who he is. i can only assume that either people are unwilling to talk about this level of reality with fellow adepts or that the existing organisation has forgotten the name of its founding member as well as his core teaching.

Additional 28.12.13:
Only today did the information between 2.13.07 and 2.16.40 on the following video come to me, and it is with perfect timing to round off this blog (posted a few days ago) - it is exactly what I have been talking about here.

Reflections of Cyburbia

For the past 72 hours I have done nothing but drink coffee and make 3D city inside cyberspace. By use of specific materials; light-cursive glass and reflective steel, the cloned square blocks become vortexes, one bouncing off the other ad infinitum, warping like a hall of mirrors. I simply cannot wait to get this hooked up to a VR headset and immerse myself completely.

It is like lego for computer junky grown-ups. Copypaste & Stack. Zoom and Tilt Angle. This is how I have been sorting my head out. I am very aware of the metaphysician approach to language here from the deconstructionist perspective.

I generated the following cityscapes after watching my friend Rachel Dolphindark lovingly explore InSilico district of SecondLife.

What is the proper correct terminology for "cyber urban" ?
The two words almost mirror one another.
Welcome to Cyburbia...

What is most surprising is how similar this digitally generated space and imagery is to paintings done by my contemporary at Cheltenham Art School between '96 and '99 with whom it was my great honour to share a lot of things. Paul Cummings interest in cyber design as shown in examples of his early work here.

A preoccupation with TIME

SATURN and SATAN

Speak both words and imagine that the concepts have diverged due to colloquial accents for the past several hundred years, from a common root idea.

In western astrology, planetary influence of Saturn is associated with TIME.
It is often depicted as an aged man with a long beard.

In practical terms it has more to do with the gridding effect of sequences into a linear structure. (Apopholyte is a gemstone that does this to the electromagnetic particle energy of its surroundings and to the numeric pulse rhythms of any other gemstones in the proximity also, it has some similar properties to Christite - take note how these words both seem in fitting with the language of the christian religions, revealing hidden depths of meaning in its jargon from before the religious aspect took over, markedly during the Gregorian reformation of the 17th century).

I am sure you are familiar with Revelations message of the number of the Beast 666, which "during the end times shall be imprinted on all things".

Relax, it is talking about the end of the Piscean era for which Christianity was originally envisaged as a guide before the dark forces of slavery systematically perverted it. The phrase 'End Times' refers to the religion having served its purpose and being no longer relevant because a better and more relevant approach to spiritual insight will replace it during the Aquarian era - which we are now into.

I mention about 666 being imprinted on everything for this reason:

24 hour clock
60 minutes per hour
60 seconds per minute

This is called 12:60 timescale, it is only one of many possible grid systems for measuring time, one that we are taught is 'satanic' in the 'devil' sense of the word. Indeed it is a far shout from organic natural 13:20 that everything else in the galaxy resonates with.

2+4 = 6
6+0 = 6
6+0 = 6
tonal= 666

Now 'check the time' on your digital watch, computer, cellphone, if you want to grid yourself to a slavery system. An artificial structure designed to cause stress to your biological, emotional and mental functions. That is why it is regarded as 'the devils work'.

Green Man Year Zero

"Welcome to the summer of dread. The conservative party's dreams of an England culturally cleansed of 'hippies', 'crusties', 'soap-dodgers' and 'scroungers'. A countryside reclaimed for picnicking Lebensraum for decent suburban folk. A rural idyll unspoiled by dreadlocked, bearded, unwashed, social deviants who will be forced back into the inner-city cesspits from whence they crawled... this is no deranged fascist wet dream. This is the culmination of a determined effort to crush and destroy a multi-cultural, empowering activist lifestyle for no other reason than the besuited gentlemen farmers and merchant bankers of the Conservative Party find it offensive."

'Convoy Clampdown' article, NME 8 May 1993.

"When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty."  Magna Carta 1215  (paraphrased)

2013ad is Year Zero by the Mayan long count. The backdrop of the rise of a fascist state in Britain, two and three generations after my ancestors fought two consecutive world wars to prevent such a thing from happening. A return to Law is required while there is still time, now two years before the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta which established in writing a legal system based on the Common Law of our Ancestors (Do not Steal, Do not cause Harm, Do not use trickery, and Keep the Peace) that has become increasingly corrupt and ignored ever since. We are long overdue for and in desperate need of a reformation. The near future will  be one of political reform.

This summer I was fortunate to take time out of my research and educational work, to be a part of the four day long Green Man festival in the black mountains of Wales. It is located on an ancient riverbed and halfway up the hillside.

One thing that I did notice during the festival, living in high energy nature and away from Babylon, the urban wilderness, cellphone and wifi radiation, is that my sperm production has doubled!

Green Man is the best organised, cleanest festival I have ever been to, although it has been nearly fifteen years since the last big festival I went to, other than the occasional free party and traveller rave during my twenties. Green Man is safe for kids and has a lot of facilities for them, divided into 'younger' and 'older' categories (toddlers/pre-teens and pre-teens/teens in two separate zones). The site is gorgeous! Open spaces as important as music stages, food and trinket shops. Some of the trees here in a grove between the healing field and the main circuits are otherworldly.

Main things; my 3 year old got to see Patti Smith live!

Unfortunately I missed Julian Cope (Teardrop Explodes & the Modern Antiquarian) speaking due to the festi timetable being a fiver more than I had.

The drum workshop was amazing, smoke-filled-bubbles machine, heated showers, toilets cleaned twice a day, every food tent a different nationality from African souk to hippy chai, fresh fried fish and quinoa to full english breakfast.

Many thousands of people living communally, a state of original-sense anarchy (not needing government) with not one policeman on site throughout; surely this alone says it all.

I walked around the festi where there were many dreadlocks feeling at home, being respected and smiled at simply for their presence, in my mind floated the phrase 'the gathering of tribes' from a 1999 exhibition 'a century of fashion' which predicted a culture that has become relevant now.

I was at Glastonbury festival at Pilton in the year of the mud (and I still have green toenails from it despite wearing Doc Martens at the time, as trained by my early teenage years of Riot Grrl / Grunge generation vying with Goth and Reggae for my attention before becoming a full blown festi-born new-age traveller as now forever stereotyped). That pre-millenial festival was regarded by many at a time of global tsunami and maelstrom flooding to be Mother Earth speaking; remember what you are, remember nature! Walking barefoot at the Green Man I very soon got back into the festi spirit, watching/feeling several grids of the different festi spirits as they arranged coincidental experiences, time-synced events and meetings while everything falls into its own natural harmonic.

The Green Man is Renewal cycle of nature; a british deity symbolized by an oak-leaf faced man. To many this signifies Druidism in its honorific state and the association with Oak Trees, of which are many and ancient on the Glanusk Estate in where the festival has been located for the past three of its ten years; although Celts have been worshipping the Green Man for countless generations, it is one of the earliest recorded traditional british imagery seen on pagan artefacts, so important that like Sheela Na Gig it was absorbed into British christian temple carvings prior to the Gregorian reformation.

The cycle of renewal. It was followed by a hard minimal techno set the likes of which I haven't seen for a decade either, and which helped inspired me to get into making my own techno music.

"Dance, when you're broken open. Dance, if you've torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you're perfectly free.” Rumi

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke.

3.9.13 Evidently I came back from the Green Man festival feeling a strong political message! Time has flown by since and I have not had time to sit down, look through the photo's and finish this blog until today.
