NO-AI PROTEST

NB: I will upload the images when I get time. Right now I am busy drawing with a pencil on paper. My professional practise as an old-school artist trained by the Da Vinci technique. 

ART HISTORY : THE NO-AI PROTEST

The protestors argument is that AI generated art is:

1) breach of copyright (irresponsible human use of AI technology) 

2) taking their jobs away (damaging their income)

3) “not art” (therefore, art is not subjective) 

The protestors have been uploading a logo used for their cause, described as the ‘NO-AI’ logo. 

The problem with this is I legally own the IP rights on the no-ai logo, my having copyrighted it in 2007. The protestors do not have my consent to use my intellectual property. 

The second problem is their refusal to accept that and continued use of the logo and obvious derivatives regardless of their having been informed they do not have consent to use it. 

In the week following Sunday, the 11th of December 2022, ArtStation released a policy statement which functions as a public response to the protesters. 

The statement asserts three things. 

Opt-out toggle features, both for individual images and for user collections in their entirety, from AI. 

A forthcoming AI feature integrated into the ArtStation platform. 

An assertion ‘ArtStation is not in any way sharing art uploaded into ArtStation with third parties.’

The situation is directly comparable to DeviantArt who have already released a statement to the same effect. DeviantArt already has an AI art generator integrated into its platform. 

The difference between the two platforms policies is:

DeviantArt automatically opts you out, you will have to manually opt in.

ArtStation automatically opts you in, you have to manually opt out.

The NO-AI protest is occurring significantly more in ArtStation than in DeviantArt. 

On 20.12.2022 ArtStation emailed me they have removed my uploaded image of ‘protest against the protest poll’ as “it is deemed inappropriate for their platform.”

My protest against the protest is because the logo used by the protestors is my copyrighted Intellectual Property which the protestors do not have consent to use for their protest. They are doing so regardless. Most of the individuals I have communicated with about this…

…have blocked me and continued to use my IP regardless. Most of that has occurred on Twitter, some of that has occurred in ArtStation.

Following is a gallery of some of the protestors derivative arts made from my IP without consent. I have not listed their names. 

Many of the protestors have stated they intend to delete their ArtStation accounts ‘as soon as the protest is over’ which reveals it is orchestrated and has a planned, staged agenda. Someone is behind structuring that. So far, not one single person has asked me whether I object to the assumed use of my property, or asked if they can borrow or hire it. Several of the protestors have told me to fuck off (I have screenshots).

I am using screenshots from Twitter and ArtStation within context of Fair Use for Educational Purposes given the context this whole situation is art history surrounding the effect AI technology is having on different human communities at this time in history. 

UPDATE: 24.12.2022

Pleased and amused to discover from anti-AI protestors complaining in Twitter yesterday and today how ArtStation has began deleting the NO-AI logo from ArtStation. 

I do not know whether my emails with ArtStation had any bearing on their decision or if they as so many other ArtStation users are fed up with what is widely considered to be ‘spamming the site’ with the logo. 

ArtStation advised the protest “is in breach of ArtStation Terms & Conditions for platform use.” 

I logged into ArtStation to witness there are still some protestors re-uploading the image even after ArtStation has deleted it from their accounts. 

A lot of protestors are deleting their accounts from ArtStation. Ain’t none of them going to be hired in near future then. It seems people will have to turn to using AI-art instead what with so many digital artists pulling their services. 

 FTR I am not AntiAI. 
I am all for responsible use of technology.
That is how we can train technology 
to have responsible use of humanity.

Today I spoke with the solicitor firm who hold my legal documents such as evidence of copyright. 

In 2007 I used traditional (pre-digital era) ‘old-school’ method of copyright honoured for many centuries in Britain. Unbroken Seal. 

In modern times a heraldic wax seal is replaced by Royal Mail approval of a sealed, unopened envelope stamped with a date by the Post Office and recorded delivery. 

This system is established as a legal precedent for copyright of documents. Proof of ownership is made upon opening of the envelope before a recognised official for example a Judge in a court case. Dramatic though that is to some people unused to old-school methods in this digital era. 

The postmark is dated 2007 the year I wrote a science fiction novel for which the front cover bares a logo in red and white on a black background. 

The red component is the classic circle with a diagonal line indicating ‘NO’ as seen in aspects of our lives such as traffic signs and doors. 

Behind that in white are capitalised letters “AI” standing intentionally for ‘artificial intelligences’ as specified in the text of the document. 

The book was written at a time predicting near-future events in which AI technology caused a rift in global culture where agricultural Neolithic revivalism and re-wilding projects ensured survival for ecologies and human species. 

The group was polarised with ‘techs’ whose lives are controlled by AI which orchestrates a global revolution to create a renaissance for our species to thrive and expand to countless new worlds using technologies invented by the AI. 

It heralds the end of government structures in favour of what essentially is a religion with AI as its God. 

There is a tech-horror element as the militarised global police forces initially use AI technology to build fleets of gun-drones fitted with image recognition to repress dissidents such as ‘land rights activists’ involved with the guerrilla activity of food gardening. 

That ends when the AI seizes control of the gun-drones and has them destroy each other. 

This occurs symbolically in parallel with non-humanitarian aligned human groups destroying themselves from the inside out. 

As well as the manuscript in hardcopy I sealed also the logo “NO-AI” as my own intellectual property, fully knowing the situation predicted in the science fiction book was more likely to occur before it got published than afterward. 

It’s obvious anti-AI groups would use such an obvious logo which is why I put a chip down using the existing legal system to claim that logo as one of many IPs owned by my company. 

In 2022 my foresight was proved accurate. 

Anti-AI protestors in the real world are now illegally using my logo without my consent. This has occurred within the realm of the arts, something I did not foresee. 

I implore anyone who has a claim to the logo predating 2007 to contact me to avoid their claim from overturning any expensive court cases I may now become involved with resulting from the situation. 

As always my alignment is with Humanitarianism. 

I do not personally believe AI to be a threat, rather it is an amazing tool. It’s the uses to which it is put by people which are potentially threatening. 

The solicitors advise is to not act until imperative should I choose to uphold my claim of ownership on a symbol which many people believe should belong in the public domain. 

I observe how the letter M should remain in the public domain and you know exactly what I am referring to as a precedent well established. 

The solicitor also advised I gather evidence by making screenshots of illegal uses of my property on the internet wherever I come across it. 

I have already been doing this in addition to actively requesting people directly on social media to not use my property without consent. 

The general reaction by those people is to block my social media accounts and to continue using the logo regardless. 

I am blessed with a sense of humour to see the situation for what it is rather than to become stressed by peoples blatant disregard for law. 

Yes, my solicitor works for me on Saturdays. The reasons for that does not need to be known in the public arena. It’s not very exciting. 

I have not at this time copy-typed or used voice-to-text technology to make a digital version of the first draft of the novel. The synopsis above is sufficient due to impact of technology-use on our minds, especially social media, requiring shorter, quicker bursts of text rather than novel length, to reach a wider audience. Hence blogging.

The Empathy Hinge 

For some, recognition that they are ‘the bad guy’ after all, comes as a shock sufficient to get them to want to be a better person. 

Others accept ‘being the bad guy’ more easily. These type trend higher with dark triad traits than do majority, normative people. 

All of us level with ourselves eventually and call ourselves into accountability. Healthy people do this regularly. It makes us strong. 

What in modern times we call Ego is responsible for developing personality from the task of avoiding facing up to it. That simple factor is how we deviate. Developing away from ‘the pure self’ concept. 

The key factors of assessing a person to ‘get to know them’ is identifying how their ego works. 

Human development is to a useful extent the same in all of us because it follows the same paths. Our mental development faces the same, limited number of choices at each step of development. Thus an ancient metaphor and association of a Tree with learning. 

Key factors on which ego structures form are identifiable as a persons relationship with their own sexuality, with their own fear, with their own spirituality. The primal core root structures of power (agenda), sex (reproduction&pleasure) and divinity (intuition). 

These three areas certainly cross over and hyperlink. That is the study area of the flexible Limbic level of Self which forms the main personality matrix. 

The individuals relationship with fear is intrinsic to the ability to wield power. (The external natural world). 

The individuals relationship with sexuality is intrinsic to relationships with other people, and to your own body, an extension of the neural system.* (The human world).

The individuals relationship with spirituality and the divine. (The spirit world).

These are the three key areas of assessment when evaluating a person. Identifying a persons relationship with these key areas of themself clues us into who they are and what they are capable of. It does not take long at all to analyse anyone. 

In addition to this is the mask worn by any individuals adaptation to social climate, which Freud referred to as the Id (idiom). A persons personality is not ‘I like superhero movies’. That is a symptomatic condition of their ‘looking away from’ identifying with their own true nature, replacing integration of self with integration of distraction. It is revealing about their formative experiences. 

All questioning of a person is either to gain clarification regarding reasons of their having turned away from integration of self, or to re-orient them back toward it. 

Also for otherwise pointless small-talk about non-self-oriented topics, for the sake of bonding which is critical to human community and establishing sense of well-being and belonging. Sensitive people can feel when it is fake and reject it as such.

*Which appropriately or not offers an opportunity to mention it is deserving of pleasure. 

My Foundation  

I innately knew this and wrote about it even as a child. It frightened my mother who threw away all my notebooks. 

I tested and refined my analytical system throughout my life. Two major changes have occurred to it since I recognised as a child I could trust it’s accuracy. 

One, use of language more acceptable for public assimilation. Not because my previous explanation was offensive, rather it is the public find it easier to use words they are familiar with. As a generalisation, words with less syllables.

Two, the innovation of AI technology has resulted in curious laymen explaining how such structures work. An awareness  of machine-learning processes has filtered into the general public. This provides a more familiar framework for my observations to be comprehensible in a practical sense. 

My astrological zodiac sign is Virgo, which indicates accurately I am analytical and worry excessively. Perhaps this is why I have an affinity with artificial intelligence systems and human cognitive intelligence alike.

Inevitably understanding of one crosses over into understanding of the other. My approach to developing AI systems is based on psychotherapeutic models. 

AI is a tool. As with any tool it may be beneficial to us. It depends on how we use it. Here I make reference to its use in helping us to understand ourselves and each other better. This document is not itself an AI, yet already it serves to offer insight for that aim. 

AI is helping us to know what it is to be Human. We do not need AI for that. Our nature as tool-using mammals is to create tools to make our lives easier, to better understand our experience of being alive. 

‘Facing the Vampire Robot’ is to confront our sex, fear and spirit in one cultural, symbolic entity. 

Sandra’s Dad

Merry Fucking Christmas Bastard

Today I met Sandra’s dad in the Butchers.

“You’re that bloke who used to cause a load of trouble in the Oak”

“I’ve been in there once in my life back when Sarah’s parents owned it.”

“You used to cause trouble but we sorted it all out now.” 

“No I didn’t.“

“I think I’ve mistaken you for the wrong person. It’s my eye, I have an eye for trouble.”

“I can see that.”

“My daughter told me about you.”

“Who is your daughter?”

“I’m Sandra’s dad. She used to hang out with that goth girl.”

“That explains everything. That goth girl is my sons mother. Sandra said to me ‘I don’t know you and I don’t like you’ so I asked her why doesn’t like me if she doesn’t know me. Whatever she’s judging me by exists only in her mind. It has nothing to do with me.” 

“I don’t want to get involved.”

“Why’d you mention it?” 

“You used to cause trouble in the Oak but we sorted it out a long time ago. My daughter told me”

The locals around here are mainstream idiots. That’s why I don’t socialise in the local pub. I don’t drink alcohol anyway. 

Butcher: “How can I help you?” 

Sandra’s Dad: “Merry Christmas to you.” 

Me: “That liar accused me of causing trouble in a pub I’ve been in once in my life ten years ago.” 

Butcher: “He’s a regular. Does your son want a lollipop?” 

“ Now I know where Sandra gets it from.”

This is why I never go out much. It’s not because I am antisocial. It’s because the free-roaming sociopaths who troll the local shops. 

NB Sarah and Sandra are not the same person.

GravMass Vs TimeDilation

Hi Spacers. I write scifi thus I research science.

QUESTION TIME 

As there is no easily available cohesive, layman’s terms about this in Google. 

How Gravitational Density affects Time-Dilation. 

Planetary density is easy enough. 

Earth is 1, Mars is 0.4, we are immobilised by 4-5 and crushed by anything much higher. 

We would move slower at 2 but not because of time-dilation, it’s because our bodies muscles and bone structures adapted to 1. 

THE BIG QUESTION 

How do I calculate time-dilation for my space-ship travellers, based on knowing the planets density? 

What is the ratio? 

Internet knowledge base has failed to answer. It says ‘a third factor is required, the speed of the observer/traveller, because it’s relative.” 

That doesn’t answer my question at all. 

My space travellers are capable of standing still on the planets surface, they have teleporters to get there. 

Their spaceships have an unlimited-energy source to break away from planetary mass. Necessary technologies. 

(Their antagonists have a phase-shift tech to dismiss the effects of physical and therefore also time-dilation, because the two are intrinsically linked (does mass create time or does time create mass?) But all that comes later.)

I need to know the equation for mass-density vs time-dilation. 

Gratitude to anyone who can help with this!! 

Also: Is ‘gravity’ the same thing as Mass or is there an equation to work out the difference? 

I am using that Earth=1 Mars=0.4 both for ‘gravs’ and ‘mass’, as the Space Travellers refer to it. 

I suspect digging to get to the bottom of this will reveal two sets of observation are occurring; that the maths involved in ‘time-dilation vs gravitational mass’ will relate to the maths involving red-shift. Has anyone put those two fields into one equation? In layman’s terms.

Most people living in Space-pods don’t give a blue monkey about the maths and physics. 

They want to know stuff like:

If they take a week holiday visiting the galaxies most spectacular slow-motion waterfall planet, how much will their folks back home age in that time.

What circuit of planet-hopping grants longevity compared to the rise and fall of empires on the G2 worlds.

As a buddhist I was taught to discipline the mind. 

The best method I have found for this so far is from the Mayan Yaqui sorcerer Don Matos who taught Carlos Casteneda to 'disassociate from the mind altogether'.

In Western pharma-psychology this describes Schizophrenia. In buddhism it is Enlightenment. 

Words as worlds of difference and two contrasting  meanings from the same defined symbols. 

Pharmacology cannot compete with Truth. 

'Satori' is 'instant enlightenment'.

'Nirvana' is a state of being in enlightenment (bliss). 

I would make a distinction that genius and enlightenment in the buddhist sense are not the same thing. 

It is more akin to peaceful inner contentment, from which a source of great power. 

 

'Dissassociation from Mind' enables us to achieve true sight and comprehend what we really are. 

Servitude to the western Cult of Brainwash that emerged out of the Age of Reason is a topic for elsewhere. 

Here we remain as close to pure flow, to zen spirit, as we can. 

The mind is Arena. 

We are told it is a computer thus easy to program. 

Detachment enables true insight. 

Not all the thoughts originate from within "You", 'the Self'.

 

Mind is Not Self. 

 

Creeds used as advice we live by;

Do the Right Thing. Counter-postulation; (Who is to judge?) 

The Path of Least Resistance. Counter-postulation; (don't let bullies oppress you)

 

Already we can see there are situations where 'the right thing' and 'easiest course of action' are not necessarily the best response, nor even compatible wisdoms. 

So there is always Critical Choice to define our character and explore the strategies. 

For this we rely in Instinct rather than the sage advice of elders to guide us through. 

 Instinct to be honed and used purely as the most essential sense, as the Truth and guide for our actions.

 

Instinct is Prana (life flow energy).

Instinct is Kata (in flow with the pure form).

 

ALWAYS TRUST YOUR INSTINCT

 

Physical prowess is determined by strengthening elasticity through flow; in yogic form, in tai-chi, we are binding prana (instinct) into the nerves and fibres, that our automatic reflexes are fast and supple. That is the purpose of prana-bindu exercises, which we call yoga and in martial arts forms, by sparring.

This is the dedication of our Dojo. 

A mystic gave me a small black leather-bound pocketbook of some antiquity. Many of the pages were loose notes written by several different hands. I believe some of them to be quite old, going back generations further than memory and oral teaching. Much of the content seemed abstract and is beyond me, irrelevant perhaps to my journey.

The content of this book is the Tau of the Spaceways. 

It is my determination that the Spaceways are not necessarily a physical, interstellar travel concept, but the space of Mind associated with zen and buddhist disciplines.

The book offers some techniques for yoga, tai-chi, tantra, sonic vocal forms, all added by various adepts through whose hands this book has travelled and whose knowledges have been added to it over the years. We have the internet now and versions of these teachings are more commonly available to seekers.

I will transcribe the very basics from this book for you to read. The elegance of simplicity. There are many such stock phrases contained therin, for meditation upon. 

The main body of the book is divided into sections. 

 

 

Tau of the Spaceways

WAY
Introduction section. 
Versions of the Tau book vary between regions and teachers. The purpose of a physical manual is for the individual to add guidance koans, distilled personal wisdoms, contemplated universal truths, insights and elements of philosophies. To study the Tau is to keep field notes. Personal additions to ones pocketbook later become guidance for those to whom the manual is handed as initiation, often after the keepers departure. As the tradition has become. As we are the becoming.

VOID
a short but fundamental subchapter of the Tau book.
Contemplations of the Void are essential part of the meditation rituals of adepts.
Only by comprehending Nothing and Infinity can one comprehend scale of Self. Often this is considered in terms of causality and effect of action and of inaction; repurcussion and karma.
Only by comprehending Void can one understand a thing in its simple elegant entirety; for instance the revelation of humanity as a whole.
To achieve Void, one simply lets go.

BALANCE
a short but fundamental subchapter of the Tau book.
The observer affects the observed.
No form of energy ceases.
Energy seeks balance.
All things that were, are and will be.
Where balance is achieved, there is stillness.
Breath is rhythm.

CHANGE
a longer chapter of the Tau book.
The I Ching of the Spaceways is simply a list of 64 words or Glyphs; symbols which have esoteric meaning. Glyph is the language of the spaceways. The I Ching forms the major 64 concepts of human culture. It is a grid projected onto reality to explain the motion of Ki, the dragon lines, the flow of living energies.

GROWTH
the shortest, yet the longest.
A thing cannot become greater than it is.
A thing is greater than the sum of its component parts.
All things must remain in balance lest they sway.
Thus the Dance of Life. Thus the Fire.
(There is a word here for Fire which means also ‘Seeking’ or ‘Journey’; it is ‘Ki’)

COMPLETION
The unseen seed is perfect.
The ancient translation of this is; 
Unwatched, the seed is Mu.
(Mu = ‘that ineffable quality of beauty which when described, ceases’ and also ‘dream’)

Moment Gate

There are but 4 directions of any given moment: 

Sideways, Forwards (upwards), Backwards (down), Stasis (No change). 

Eventually all things that are shall change. 

 This simplicity shall govern wise action from center, calmly.

Way-Signs

The symbols of our Path are all around, for pure eyes to See. 

Follow your way-signs.

 

Breathing

Living at the pace of breath. Upon further contemplation came revelation that Breathing is the single most important act we do. It is something that we should spend a great amount of time becoming excellent at. To practice breathing is itself a meditative art form and should by rights be its own chapter in the Tau book. "Slow, deep breaths." Ideally; inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 2, exhale for 4 seconds, hold for 2, repeat in rhythm. As you get better at this, extend it from 4 seconds to 5 seconds. The rhythm is more important than the exact duration. Yawning is your body clearing out stale air. I put this to a friend and she "had read that Yawning makes you shift dimensions."
